TROJAN FOOTBALL ALUMNI CLUB DEAR FELLOW TROJANS: In February 2009 the TFAC Board of Directors met and unanimously voted in a new Executive Board. I was deeply honored to move into the position of President. Mike MacGillivray stepped into the position of President-elect. The Vice-President role is now filled by Andy Eddy. Mike McGirr took over the position of Treasurer. And Dean Lingenfelter steps up into the role of Secretary. A heartfelt THANK YOU belongs to 2008 President Mark Spino. Mark guided our club during what was and still is a very difficult financial time for most people. Almost all of us feel the effects of the nation’s economic woes. Despite the economy, President Spino catapulted our TFAC Pre-Game tailgate parties into a new era. With personal funds and dedicated volunteers spearheaded by Mark, TFAC created a whole new look and experience to our tailgate festivities. A new Cardinal and Gold striped tent covered almost our entire area. Big plasma screen televisions were added for our viewing pleasure of other college football games around the country. The food and beverage catering crew was outstanding. TFAC has taken fantastic strides in recent years to not only sustain this great club, but bring it into a new era, a new generation, filled with new opportunities and activities. These very active recent Past Presidents are to be applauded for taking this club to the next level. Kevin McPartland ’05, Rod McNeill ’06, Rob Preston ’07 and Mark Spino ’08 faced adversity and struggles but continued to march TFAC towards the goal line. With new dreams come new challenges. Our goals were set forth. The direction this club needed to go and the things we needed to accomplish to achieve these goals in recent years laid the foundation for a lot of work ahead. Thankfully, our board of directors is still filled with active Past Presidents Mike Lewis, Andy Marincovich, Kurt Dietel, and our founding father Paul Salata. With the background and experience all of our Past Presidents bring to the table, I intend to take their tutelage with some fresh legs and carry the ball into the Red Zone. With our new and extremely energetic executive board stepping on the turf, we WILL march down the field. Our goal is to take each task and conquer its challenges and score. Failure is not an option. We cannot do it alone and we ask each of you to help in some way, shape, or form. Help us make TFAC the club that it can be. We are better today than we have ever been. BUT, we will not stop there. We must continue to enhance and advance in every phase of our game. Our next and biggest event of the year is our TFAC Golf Classic. After the most enjoyable golf tournament in our history last year overlooking the crashing waves of Pelican Hill and celebrating the 40th Anniversary of our Golf Tournament, we are going back to some of our roots. This year’s 41st annual golf classic will be held at Industry Hills Golf Course at Pacific Palms Resort. The date is Friday May 22, 2009. Go to the Golf Page of our web site for all the details.
